About Me

I am Ekhtiar, a passionate professional in the track of Data Science. I have a solid understanding of different techniques in the domain of machine learning, big data technologies, and cloud infrastructure. I also have professional experience in technical management and leadership. Personally, I don't work in the tech industry because of the money or opportunities, but rather for the passion. I love technology; I just can't get enough of it. Technology is a great enabler which allows you to make a change to vast number of lives with very little effort.

So far, my story is a compilation of many privileges in many different ways. First, I have had the opportunity to draw from some of the best education institutes in the world. When I was very young, my parents moved to New Zealand for work, where I attended a top reputed grammar school. Subsequently, I moved back with my family to Bangladesh, where I completed my Bachelor's in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from one of the most reputed private university in the country. Later, I was selected to pursue a master's degree with an European Union's flagship program that allows me to study at three different universities in three different semesters while specializing in topics such as: Business Process Management, Service Oriented Architecture, Cloud computing, and Software Architecture and Integration. I successfully graduated from this master's program with Cum Laude on July 2016. Nowadays, I learn new things via open online course providers like Coursera.

Professionally, I also had the privilege to work in the information technology industry for more than five years. Previously, I worked with ING as a Data Scientist (Intern) and Philips Lighting as a Big Data Engineer. At Philips Lighting, I spent two years building big data pipelines for Philips Hue. I also had the opportunity to work at ASML as a Machine Learning Engineer for two years. There I got to work in transforming machine learning model from development to a product. Currently I work at Signify as the Group Manager for Data Science and Analytics; where I manage a team of data scientist. In my role, I am responsible for building the right competence for the team, while managing the portfolio of AI use-cases we deliver to business. I also teach part time at Jheronimus Academy of Data Science (JADS) from University of Tilburg, where I give lecture on Data and ML.
